02 Jan Instagram Roundup – December
Welcome back! I hope you had an amazing holiday season!!! 2017 has been an amazing year for both One Awesome Momma and my family! Yes, we’ve encountered a lot of challenges and incidents that could have ended tragically during the past year like almost losing my daughter at the beach when we were celebrating my birthday, and rushing my son to the E.R. because he managed to eat some Reese’s peanut butter cups and had anaphylactic shock but we weren’t aware that he was having one. But through these, we learned valuable lessons; we came out of them stronger and wiser; and above all, we were still showered with countless blessings all throughout the year.
December has been another busy month for me, both for the blog and as a mom. On top of all the work that I had to do for the blog (not complaining – never will), I had to make sure that my Christmas list was checked off. I bought gifts for my kids like a crazy person; even though my husband and I agreed that we would just enroll them to a swimming class instead of giving them toys for Christmas. Seriously, I was buying gifts left and right; and still buying presents the week before Christmas (and paying overnight shipping). I’m so happy and relieved that it’s all over and I survived all the craziness of the holiday season. Anyway, here are my favorite Instagram posts for the month of December!
Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram so you’re always up-to-date on what I’m wearing and what I’m doing!

While I wish these commissions were enough to let me stay at home with my kids, they’re really for paying the fees to keep this site up and running. Thank you for your continued support!
This is, currently, one of my favorite bags. As you’ve probably noticed, I love a good pop of color in my outfits. And I like to keep my bag collection as colorful as they currently are. I rarely get a bag in black. But as soon as I saw this beauty, I fell in love and just had to get it. I love that I can wear it with anything and that it has a lot of room for my stuff. I’ve been wearing it a lot since I got it.
Every year, where I work, our department adopt 2 families around Christmas time and would ask volunteers to fulfill their wants and needs. I’ve participated in it since I joined our company. As soon as I saw what the families (we adopted) wanted for Christmas, I teared up. I felt really bad for them. And although this picture was taken back in November when we visited Cox Farms, I saw it again during that time and it reminded me that my family and I are still fortunate.
Right around that time, my family was (and still is) going through something. It’s hard to see the good things especially if you’re overwhelmed with the not-so-good things happening in your life. But having experienced that, it reminded me (once again) that we are beyond blessed! We may not have everything we want in life, but we have a fun & loving family; and we’re facing and overcoming these struggles together. At the end of the day, that’s what truly matters!
Last month, we worked with another brand that we love, OshKosh B’gosh; and we had so much fun doing the photo shoot. It was actually one of the fastest photo shoots that we’ve done. We were at North Carolina and was spending Thanksgiving with a friend of mine, and did the photo shoot there. The kids were probably in the zone then because I didn’t have to give them lots of instructions. I just clicked away and got these amazing photos! We were done in less than 30 minutes.
I was looking for a gift to give my kids’ teachers for Christmas. I saw one that’s supposed to be pretty easy where you’ll melt chocolate chips in a Christmas mold and everything hardens in the shape of snowman, Christmas tree, snowflake, etc. Of course, it didn’t turn out exactly as I hoped. I spent 45 minutes trying to make sure that the melted chocolate is inside the mold so it’s molded properly when it hardens; and put the mold in the freezer for over a day but still, it didn’t harden.
When I saw this sleigh filled with candies at Pinterest, I thought this seems pretty easy to do. And true enough, all I needed were a bunch of KitKat bars, candies, candy canes, glue gun, glue stick, and ribbon. And I used the holiday card that I made in Canva. I love how it turned out and the teachers love how adorable these look.
I am obsessed with faux fur coats. You’ve probably heard me saying this a lot but, seriously, there’s nothing a faux fur coat cannot update. I felt fabulous in my white tee & ripped jeans because of my faux fur coat.
This pink faux fur coat is a recent purchase and I’ve worn it a lot already. It’s so much lighter than my red coat though, so I don’t think I can wear it in winter.
This is a DIY holiday card that I made using Canva. I really love this site; it’s where I usually create all the graphics I need for my website. So I thought, why not create our holiday card using it. It’s so easy to do but I really love how it turned out.
Christmas was so much fun this year because my kids are old enough to be aware of and appreciate what was happening. We went to see the Festival of Lights at Bull Run Park, attended the mass on Christmas Eve, made cookies for Santa, watched Home Alone with the kids, and opened presents on Christmas morning. Watching how my kids’ faces light up while opening their gifts and hearing my daughter scream as soon as she saw what Santa gave her were priceless. We mostly spent the entire Christmas day at home playing, except for when we had to go out for breakfast because we didn’t have anything, and when we had to drop by my husband’s relatives’ house.
This is another outfit that I’m currently obsessed with – cozy sweaters and sequin pants. I FINALLY got my hands on a couple of chenille sweaters a couple of weeks ago. I know I’m probably so late in this trend but I haven’t seen any chenille sweaters that I like at the price point that I’m willing to pay for. When Express had their recent 50% off site-wide sale, I took advantage of it and got the chenille sweaters that I’ve been eyeing for a while, and these sequin pants.
This chenille sweater, and the other one I got are SO SOFT & COZY!!! Had I known that they are this luxuriously soft, I would have paid full-price (I never go to stores to shop so I never knew). Seriously, I could live in these sweaters forever!
How fun are these velvet sequin pants? I love anything that sparkles and these sequin pants caught my eyes as soon as I saw them! They’re so perfect for a night out or on date nights when you don’t want to wear a dress but still would like to look fabulous!
Of course, 2017 won’t end without me reflecting on the year that was and sharing my favorite Instagram moments. These photos represent important milestones of my blogging journey. From reaching 10K Instagram followers, celebrating my first blog anniversary, to working with my favorite brands; 2017 certainly opened a lot of wonderful opportunities for me and my family. I was able to do things I didn’t know I was capable of; and I absolutely learned a lot this year!
Here’s to hoping 2018 will be better, if not as good as 2017!!! Thank you, once again, for your continued support! And I wish you and your family an abundance of blessings and a lot of opportunity for growth this 2018!!!
