Mommy and toddlers holding I See Me! personalized children's book From the time my kids were born, I always make it a point to include reading to them in our routine. When they were younger, I would read to them every night before they go to sleep. They've always loved reading; which is why I would always give them a book as a gift for any occasion. But now that they're a little bit older, they seem to have a shorter interest in books; and seem to be more interested in playing other toys. I guess it's my fault because I somehow let our bedtime story slipped into the every day craziness of our lives.

My mom is one of the women I know who isn't addicted to shoes; she is fascinated to flip flops (the ones with great quality) though. I can still remember back when I used to live in the Philippines, I would always take her out on a date for Mother's Day or her birthday and give her a new pair of flip flops. She would always get excited every time I get her a pair so I thought that's what she really wants. But that was until I became a mother and actually got to experience what being a mom is really all about.

family in front of Statue of Liberty at Liberty Island, New York, taken at a family trip Back in November, we drove to New York for a few days to show my parents around. I would consider it as one of the most stressful trips I've taken so far with my kids, mostly because I was trying make sure that my parents get to see as much tourist attractions as possible while also trying to accommodate my kids' schedule. I was always rushing to enjoy where we were because I knew we had to leave soon so the kids could take their nap on time. So today, I'll be sharing with you what to do (and not to do) to survive sightseeing in New York with your toddler.

Toddler using Minnie Mouse soapsox to make bath time more fun Most kids I know hate taking a bath; but my kids don't. Sure, they used to hate bath time when they were babies but they grew to love it. Maybe it's because they got used to taking a bath since it's part of our routine. And even when they're crying the entire time, we still do it; which maybe is why it has paid off. I honestly don't know why but I'm just thankful they love it. My son actually looks forward to bath time ALL THE TIME. As soon as I say "It's bath time", he immediately starts taking his clothes off and would start crying if I don't help him out. My daughter, on the other hand, is in that phase where she's imaginatively playing in the tub. She likes to "swim" in the tub even though there's not a lot of water in it. So I am all for anything that will encourage her imagination and make bath time more fun for her.

Happy Thursday! How has your week been? Mine has been good. We're slowly adjusting from my parents leaving last week; however, the weekend has been tough because on top of taking care of the kids, that's when we need to grocery shop and do the laundry. I woke up last Monday with a sore body, the kind you get from working out. Lol! Also, I am not excited about this weekend's time change. I always have a hard time adjusting to Daylight Saving Time; so if you don't hear from me for a week, you know why! Today's guest author is Zara Lewis. Zara is a mom, fitness & yoga enthusiast and a regular writer for High Style Life. She is devoted to implementing healthy life habits in every aspect of life of her family and friends. She loves to share her parenting tips and is always open to learning some new skills, because she sees her parenthood as going to school forever. She enjoys traveling, hiking, cycling and baking. She is going to share with us how to create a good relationship between siblings.

girl siblings If you asked me who my closest friend is, I would say – without a moment of hesitation – that it’s my sister. Growing up with someone and sharing history together – both the good times and the bad – is a great basis for a lifelong close relationship. But the relationship between siblings doesn’t always turn out like that. It is largely up to us, the parents, to encourage closeness between siblings. Just how do you build a strong bond, regardless of the age or gender? Here are some ways that work.

As a self-confessed bag addict, one of the things that got me excited as soon as I learned that I was pregnant is that I get to shop for diaper bags. I honestly don't know why; I guess it has something to do with the fact that I'll have something new to add to my bag collection. My "perfect" diaper bag wasn't something that screams diaper bag; it has to be stylish and something that looks...

Traveling with kids isn't always fun as we hoped it would be. In fact, it's always stressful. I remember a colleague saying "Going on a vacation with kids is NEVER relaxing." which I found to be true. You would always question yourself why in the world did you ever plan a trip for the whole family; I know I always do. However, no matter how stressed out I get when traveling with my kids, I would gladly...

My daughter had always been dependent on me with her sleep ever since she was a baby. We've had to deal with a lot of bedtime struggles since her birth. I've had to rock her to sleep for the longest time, pat her back to sleep, and hug her to help her fall asleep. She needs me close to her to feel comfortable and secure falling asleep. Currently, all I have to do is lie...

When I was younger, my parents would let me get away with not eating vegetables at all. And I guess that is why I didn't develop my love for them. Now that I've grown up and have 2 kids of my own, even though I know I have to eat healthy (not just for myself but for my family as well), I just couldn't bring myself to eat vegetables because I don't like their taste (seriously, I think...
