5 Simple Ways To Spoil Yourself As A Mom

Moms, let’s be honest… When was the last time you spoiled yourself? How many times did you feel like all you do is care for your family that oftentimes you take yourself for granted? I always do! Most of the time, I feel like I spend the entire day making sure my family’s needs are met – their meals and snacks are served on time, their clothes are washed and put away, the kids have enough activities throughout the day to keep them entertained, and so much more – that I never got the chance to do the things I want to do. Before having kids, I used to have time to do the things I love to do like working out every single day, giving myself a manicure every single week, and traveling to places I’ve always wanted to visit.

Moms, let's take self care a bit further! It's FINALLY time to spoil yourself! Check out these 5 simple ways to do it! | self care mom | self care mom tips | self care ideas self care tips | spoil yourself ideas | spoil yourself today | spoil yourself ways to #selfcare #selflove #spoilyourself #tomorrowsleep

While there isn’t really nothing wrong with making sure that my family’s needs are met every single day, there is also nothing wrong with making sure that I get to spoil myself from time to time. You’ve probably heard the saying “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” before; I’ve heard it quite a lot of times and I couldn’t agree more to it. I found that if I didn’t get enough sleep or if I haven’t eaten yet, I’m more cranky as compared to when I did. Today, I want to take taking care of ourselves a little bit further. I want to share with you 5 simple ways that you can spoil yourself as a mom.

Invest In A Quality Mattress

Tomorrow Sleep System Memory Foam Pillow

As moms, we need as much sleep that we could get & it has to be a quality one; because a well-rested mom is a happier and calmer mom. And a quality mattress, along with other essentials, can help give you that quality sleep you’ve been dreaming of.

We’ve recently upgraded our bed with the new Tomorrow Sleep System. And it was one of the best decisions we’ve made! We got their hybrid mattress, mattress protector, memory foam pillows, sheet set, comforter, and sleeptracker; and together, these products truly made a difference in my sleep. Tomorrow Sleep System works like magic! As soon as we used it, I noticed that I get to sleep more; and I am more comfortable too, when I do.

Get Yourself A Hair Treatment

As moms, with everything that we have to take care of every minute of every single day, we deserve to get ourselves a salon treatment. I feel like our hair deserves all the love it could get. After all, we forgot how it feels like to brush our hair after having kids. Are you with me?

I am beyond grateful that, last month, I was FINALLY able to squeeze in a hair treatment that I’ve been wanting to get for the longest time (but of course never had time to do so). I took off work for 2 days when my daughter started preschool last month so I’m available if anything were to happen. I spent those 2 days cleaning the house, running errands, and attending meetings in her school. There was a few hours when I won’t be doing anything. Instead of just sitting at home and doing nothing, I figured I could get my hair straightened while the kids were in school. And that’s just what I did! The confidence the hair treatment gave me after I got it done was AMAZING! I just felt really great about myself!

I strongly suggest getting that salon treatment that you’ve always wanted to get; you’ll be surprised at how good it will make you feel afterwards.

Have Some Time Alone

As moms, this is something we rarely never get; we always have companions even during our bathroom breaks. Having some time alone is also something we truly deserve to have from time to time just so we can feel normal. So we can feel like ourselves again. You know, that person who used to exist before we gave birth to our precious little kids?!

During your time alone, you can do anything you want! Read a book you’ve been dying to read while sipping your favorite drink, watch a movie or a TV show you haven’t had the chance to see, go outside and take a walk while enjoying the beautiful scenery, meet up with that friend of yours you haven’t seen for a while, or go to the gym. If you think these things might not be possible, you can even multitask. Stay up late after the kids go to bed and watch that favorite series of yours while indulging in your favorite ice cream, enjoy a nice and peaceful bath, or run errands alone.

The possibilities are endless! It doesn’t have to be an entire day; it can be a few hours spent alone. You just have to take advantage of those moments when the kids are sleeping or when they’re busy playing with Daddy, and do that thing you’ve been longing to do for a while.

Shop For Yourself

woman on a shopping spree

Before having kids, I shop for myself A LOT! But as soon as I found out we were expecting our first baby, I stopped shopping for myself. Since then, I found myself shopping for the kids ALL THE TIME. And then, I would always feel guilty whenever I want to get myself anything at all, especially if it’s expensive. I would always think that the money I would spend on that handbag can be used to get A LOT of stuff the kids need. And sometimes, deciding if I should get that $30 pair of jeans or 70% off coat would need a lot of contemplation too.

As moms, it’s never wrong to find yourself wanting to shop for your kids and prioritizing what they need over your wants; but it’s also never wrong to shop for yourself from time to time, especially if you haven’t gotten yourself anything for quite some time. Spoiling yourself doesn’t mean you have to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars. It just means getting that thing you’ve been wanting to get for a while but have been feeling guilty to do so.

For everything you do, you deserve to treat yourself every once in a while. And that is something you shouldn’t feel guilty for. Just because you got something for yourself doesn’t mean you’re neglecting your family’s needs.

Go On A Date Night

couple on a romantic sunset date

Going on a date should be one of the things every couple should do regularly, especially after having kids. This allows you to reconnect with your partner which you rarely get to do when the kids are around. Because if you’re happy and satisfied with your relationship, positivity and happiness radiate from within you.

But unfortunately, this is something my husband and I have always struggle with. I don’t really have someone I trust to leave the kids with while we’re out; and we only get to do this when my parents are visiting. If you have someone you fully trust, then that’s amazing! Go out on a date with your partner every chance you get.

If you’re like us, who don’t have the luxury to do it often, then all you need is creativity! Take advantage of the time when the kids are in bed and spend quality time together in the comfort of your own home, which is what we always do. Come up with an activity that you both enjoy doing together like binge watching a series or watching that movie you missed a few months ago.

OMGosh yes about the salon! Last month I skipped my color to try and save money. Never again. I need something for me and I barely spend on myself so it’s my treat.

  • Jennifer Seislove

I think shopping alone is my biggest relaxation. Even if it is only 20 minutes in a local TJMaxx, I feel recharged.

    • I feel you! Even going to the grocery store for 20 minutes gives me peace! LOL

  • Danielle Gervino

So important for mommas to practice self care! Even though I don’t have kids yet, I totally spoil myself every once in a while too 🙂

  • We have been trying to have more date nights. I’ve also been trying to do more mom days where I just do something I like on my own. Today will be one!

  • A Side of Crunchy

These are such great ideas for alone time. As a mom of five I definitely find time.

  • Jamie Fuller

Oh that mattress sounds dreamy- literally. I need a new one so I’m going to definitely check that brand out. I love all your suggestions. I could use some mom pampering myself!

    • The mattress is truly amazing! I can’t say enough good things about it! I hope you like it!

  • April@LoveOurRealLife

I love these suggestions. If mama isn’t happy, chances are no one is. Taking a little time for ourselves makes all the difference!

    • That is so true! We need to be happy from within so everyone will be happy as well.

  • Corey Wheeland

I definitely need to get a new mattress soon. And I need more sleep!! 🙂

  • I love the “invest in a good mattress” tip. We actually had to buy a new mattress when we moved but I never thought of it as treating myself. You are so right, though. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love my bed.

  • Cassie Trin

I definitely try to take advantage of my alone time. Reading a book or catching up on my favorite tv shows are on the top of the list 🙂

  • Love all of these ideas! Great ways to spoil yourself if you aren’t a mom too! Date nights and alone time are my favorites.

    • That is so true! Or else, you’re going to lose yourself with all of the craziness.

  • Wow… you find time to do all of this? LOL I’m just joking, but we do need to take time out for ourselves. Looking good is essential to feeling good and being productive even at home.

  • Jen Pilchak

It’s so true to take care of yourself- although I’d probably say besides a good mattress the only thing on this list I actually do is shop for myself (serial online shopper here). I have a spa gift card from last Christmas still untouched in my wallet! I keep thinking about that massage and facial I want but feel so guilty booking it for that me time! I should though right?!

  • Mom’s deserve to be pampered and probably get it less than anyone. A mattress upgrade is is good idea…something that’s easy to procrastinate but would make a big difference. Alone time is so important too! Great reminders for busy moms!

    • That is so true! I didn’t know what I was missing out on until we upgraded our bed!

  • Kari Chalene

  • Ashley Spang-GrowingSpangs.com

Great tips, without carving out loads of time 🙂 I’m totally guilty of constantly buying for my daughter, but I don’t remember the last time I bought myself anything. My clothes can have holes but oooooh! Is that Doc McStuffins jammies?! Guilty a few days ago. 😉

  • I’m not a mom but these are all great ways to spoil yourself. I love spoiling myself now not being a mom with all of these ways.

  • Natalie Goodwin

Can I do these, even though I’m not a mom yet?! lol! Love all of these!

Time alone — YES! I am trying to incorporate at least 2 hours per week where I am by myself and no one asking me for anything, or to do anything for them. Great tips here for sure.
