5 Little Things I Am Thankful For – A Thanksgiving Post

It's always great to have a grateful heart and be thankful of everything no matter how small of a role they play in your life. Click the image for more information.

Every Thanksgiving, I always say that I’m thankful for family, friends, and all those kinds of serious stuff. That has been always true but this year, to make it fun, I’ve decided to turn the spotlight on to the little things that I am thankful for this year.

Hot showers – Growing up in Manila where having water heaters isn’t a necessity but a luxury, I take comfort in the fact that the water I am showering in every day is going to be warm. It makes waking up in the morning so much more bearable.

Fluffy cozy robe – Because even if we always have our heat on during the colder months, I still get cold ALL THE TIME (I get cold easily). My robe, which is the second thing I reach for (next to my phone) when I wake up every morning, keeps me warm every time I need it to.

Soda – I know very well that they’re bad for me; heck, I don’t even let my kids near it. But they just make everything better and it gives me my caffeine dose for the day.

Viber – This awesome app allows me to get in touch with good friends of mine in Manila. I message them just to ask how they’re doing or if I need their opinion on something or if I see or hear something funny and want to share it with them or if I just simply miss them. In fact, I’ve been using this a lot, that Viber gives me free sticker pack every month.

Nap time – Because I take advantage of my kids’ nap time and take a nap as well during weekends. It re-energizes me for the second half of the day that I have to deal with constant whining and disobedience.

On a more serious note, I know I say this every year (and at night before I go to bed) but I will never get tired of saying this – This year, I am thankful for:

My husband – Who’s been nothing but understanding and supportive with everything I do especially when it comes to my blog. Never did I hear him complain with all the time I spend working on it, the amount of work I had and have yet to do just to pursue what I want to do.

Back when I was pregnant with my son and I was very worried about how I’m going to take care of a toddler and a baby, he promised me that he will help me out. And he absolutely stayed true to his words; he’s been extremely helpful with everything – taking care of the kids, household chores, you name it. You’re the best and I love you so much more for that!

My kids – Yes, they drive me crazy and push me to my limits ALL THE TIME but they also give me the sense of fulfillment no one else could. They give my life so much meaning and joy and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world, no matter how tough it gets. They are my life’s greatest blessings.

My parents – For traveling all the way from Manila just to celebrate my son’s first birthday with us and to help us out with the kids. You both are truly amazing and have made everything we’ve celebrated so far even more special just by spending it with us.

  • I almost lost my Mom due to a surprising turn of events in Manila last July and I couldn’t thank God enough for letting me (and us) spend more time with her.
  • My Dad who stayed with us for 6 months last year to help me out after giving birth with my son. He doesn’t have any experience with a baby since my Mom mostly took care of me when I was young but he willingly and gladly helped us out. He just doesn’t know how much lighter he made things for us; and for that, I am forever grateful.

My friends – Who never change even if we’re thousands of miles apart; they’re always there gladly willing to help out whenever I need them.

My kids’ daycare and teachers – Because I know I can leave my kids there every single day with ease knowing that they are being taken care of by awesome people who treat them as if they’re their own.

The blessings – No matter how small or big they are, they’re still blessings. I am grateful for each and every blessing in my life.

The challenges – Because without these, I wouldn’t have appreciated the true meaning of bliss and learned the lessons I have to learn to make me the stronger and wiser person that I am today.

My blog – Because it gives me an outlet to share my thoughts and what I love, not to mention the community that comes with it is simply wonderful. Everyone has been nothing but sweet and supportive and I’m so delighted to have made great friendship with some of them. And of course, you, for your continued support!
