Looking Back At One Awesome Momma’s 2nd Year
Before we dive in to the 2 important life lessons I learned through my 2 years of blogging, let’s quickly look back at One Awesome Momma’s 2nd year of blogging.
[one-half-first]
[one-half]
My second year of blogging, just like the first year, has been nothing but amazing! Sure, it wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies, but the great things that have happened always tramp the not-so-good ones.
The Brands That I Worked With
Even with all the negative things that have happened, I cannot take for granted the fact that I’ve been blessed enough to be able to work with brands I’ve always loved and looked up to like Carter’s, OshKosh B’gosh, Baby Dove, Shoe Carnival, Daniel Wellington, Neutrogena, and Groupon. I cannot forget all the memories we created while working on the fun campaigns for Tomorrow Sleep, Sleepyheads, buybuy BABY, Loving Lion Books, Gaylord National Resort, and CanvasChamp.
And let’s not forget the other awesome projects that I’ve worked on with Arctic Zero, Starfish Project, Le Tote, Naot Footwear, Maria Shireen, Sandy Ma Photography, Dream Pairs Shoes, Misook, CaseApp, Kamik, SippyNipple, Real Sangria, Rad Swim, Ryleigh Rue Clothing, and Basic Invite.
When Pinterest Thieves Stole My Traffic
This year, I’ve exceeded my first-year monthly pageview goals all because of my post about my daughter’s mean friends. That post consistently brought traffic to my website for months until spam accounts started stealing my pins on Pinterest; and then all the traffic that was meant for me, went to them. Suffice to say, I lost the traffic that I so deserved. I took a lot of hit; my traffic went down to less than my monthly pageview goal. But I didn’t let that stop me. I worked my a*s off, and have been slowly recovering from that. Last July, I am over my monthly pageview goal again.
Slow Growth On Social Media
Despite the continuous algorithm changes on different social media channels and how frustrating Instagram and Facebook can be, I found that I’m still growing… slowly, but still growing which is good. In fact, on Pinterest I am mind-blown that I am reaching over 8 million users a month! Now, if only that would translate to blog traffic, right?
People Started Sending Me Emails
I always love reading emails from you, my readers, or from someone who just stumbled upon my posts. I had someone email me about how relatable my post was; and someone asking for advice. It just warms my heart to receive emails like this. So, if you ever need to tell or ask me something, don’t hesitate and just reach out. Like I always say at the end of my posts, I would love to hear from you.
2 Important Life Lessons I Learned Through Blogging
I have never forgotten the 9 things I’ve learned after my first year of blogging. But this year, I want to share with you 2 important life lessons I’ve learned through blogging. These life lessons will help anyone become successful in anything.
That’s not to say that once you know these important life lessons, it’s going to be easy moving forward. No, it’s still going to be hard; you still have to put in a lot of work, but keeping these 2 life lessons in mind will help you to keep on moving forward no matter what happens.
Always Remember Who You’re Doing It For
As I’ve said last year, blogging isn’t a walk in the park. From the ever-changing social media algorithms, to new GDPR requirements; there’s always something new that you have to learn or improve on.
This year, I did go through a phase when I felt like I wasn’t doing anything right, or my blog isn’t going anywhere near the goals I have set for it. There were days when I wanted to just close my Instagram account; and days when I thought maybe I should just quit blogging. On days like these, I try to remember who I’m doing all of these for; and that has helped me A LOT to keep on pushing through and to strive even harder to achieve my goals.
Blogging, just like anything else, requires a lot of time, focus, effort, and constant improvement on your part. Whatever it is you’re doing in life, it’s not going to be easy (especially when you’re just starting out); and that is why you must always remember who you’re doing it for to keep yourself on the right track. When things are hard or they aren’t working out as you hoped, it is essential that you think about this life lesson. Always keep in mind why you started in the first place; that should give you the motivation that you need to keep moving forward.
Allow Yourself To Fail
Wouldn’t it be nice if we all just succeed the first time we try something? But in blogging, just like with everything else in life, it’s inevitable to commit mistakes. Most of the time, you’re not going to achieve your goals on your first try (you’d be VERY LUCKY if you do), and even with proper knowledge and training of how to do something, things might still not work out for the better. And when that happens, don’t stress because that is part of life.
Life is a constant trial and error adventure. What made someone succeed may not exactly work for you. Sometimes you do everything from the books, and still things come out falling apart. You have to find the right formula for your own success. And in order for that to happen, you have to be wrong to find out what is right.
It’s perfectly fine to stumble, as long as you pick yourself back up, learn from it, and keep trying. Don’t let your mistakes define you. Failures are meant to be embraced and used as turning points in your life. Use them to your advantage and treat them as teachable moments so you can better yourself and your life.
I hope you find these 2 important life lessons valuable. They sure do help me a lot to keep pushing through. Thank you, once again, for all your support and for sticking with me for the past year. I hope you still continue to in the next years to come!
To my ever-supportive family, and the man behind the camera, my husband, thank you so much! All of these wouldn’t have been possible if not for their continuous love, support, understanding, and belief in me.
To all the brands that I’ve worked with, I am absolutely grateful for each and every one of you! It was beyond amazing to have worked with all of you!
And of course, to my blogging BFF, Meredith from Mommy in Leggings, thank you so much for sticking with me, for believing in me, and for your never-ending support! I love you girl!

The Pinterest bots must have been so frustrating! Blogging is hard, and you hit the nail on the head when saying you need to go back to why you started to keep pushing through the hard times ❤️
Xo Jannine | http://www.happystylishfit.com
It sure was frustrating to the point that I stopped reporting them because nothing is happening if I do. The pins get deleted and the bots create a bunch more. I feel like I’m just wasting my time and I should focus my energy elsewhere.
I love everything about this post!!! xoxox
Thanks girl!
