28 Jul Ero Mama ("Sombrero Sama" in Tagalog or Bring Hat)
It was one of those we’re-running-late days because I didn’t wake up early enough. And if you’re a working mom like me, you’d know that waking up an hour before you’re supposed to leave doesn’t work anymore. In between taking a shower and getting ready for work, preparing healthy breakfast, changing diapers and clothes (and sometimes shortly after you’ve changed their clothes, they’d manage to get them dirty again), brushing those tiny teeth, fixing your daughter’s hair, and preparing supplies for school (or daycare, we just like to call it school), 2 hours is hardly enough. And to think that I don’t do all of these alone; my husband helps out. Just imagine if he doesn’t.
One of my go-to for my daughter’s outfit when in a hurry is a skirt. I opened her closet and grabbed the first skirt I could see from her skirt basket (my kids’ closets have 6 baskets each; each containing different type of clothing – skirt, shorts, tops, etc. – to help with keeping things *fingers crossed* organized) and got a floral blue skirt. I reached for the tops basket, looked at the skirt and thought I need a plain pink top. I rummaged through her tops and got the first pink top I saw. As I was about to leave her room, I realized I didn’t get her a pair of socks, so I went back and got one. I was almost running towards her and asked her to go to the changing pad. She got one of her toy food from her kitchen and went to the changing pad. A couple of wet wipes, a few dabs of lotion, a pea-sized toothpaste, and a ponytail later, she’s ready.
But just before we left, she said “Ero mama” (“Sombrero sama” in Tagalog; or in a language that most of you understand, “Bring hat”). She wants to wear her hat to school. When I turned around, she was already wearing her straw hat. Of course, I agreed; she looks cute in it.
My daughter is wearing a pink tank top from OshKosh B’gosh, skirt from Peppermint Kids (I bought it from our recent Manila trip – they have really nice clothes), a pair of black kitty socks from Gymboree, a pair of pink water shoes from Stride Rite (she wears size 5 but I got her size 6 so she can wear them longer), and of course, her hat from The Children’s Place.
What is your go-to outfit (for yourself and/or for your little one) when in a rush? Leave a comment so we can learn a thing or two from each other.
